Welcome to Bellaire High School Class of 1971 ~ 50th Year Reunion!

If you are a 1971 graduate of BHS in Houston/Bellaire Texas, please register (go to Classmate Profiles and find your name on the list, then log in)!  Be assured that ALL of your information is protected and none of your information is shared, unless you want it to be.

Once you find your name, please check for any errors, mis-spellings, check your picture too (if any). If any corrections are needed, please let us know.  If you notice ANY errors anywhere - we might have the same person listed by maiden name & married name; someone listed as deceased who is actually alive..or vice versa, etc. Please tell us!

This is a very comprehensive web site with a ton of information in it.  Spend some time and look around.  Once you buy tickets to events, other classmates can see that you are coming & they will want to attend too!  There is a 'Cardinal Chatter' page where you can get your questions answered, a Message center, an In Memory section, etc.  Enjoy the site!

We plan to have our 50th class reunion In Houston on Friday, October 15, 2021 and Saturday, October 16, 2021, with a Survivor Brunch on Sunday, October 17th.

All plans are subject to change, especially in this uncertain time of COVID-19.  Our arrangements, the venues we are speaking to and your plans will possibly need to be adjusted as conditions warrant.

Meanwhile, we are planning a great reunion!

So, what are the plans?

We are going to have 4 events .. (so far) ..

Friday Night – Meet & Greet

Saturday Day – Tour of the new BHS campus

Saturday Night – The BIG Event

Sunday Day – Survivor Brunch

Friday Night – Meet & Greet

Friday night, October 15, 2021 will be a casual meet & greet get-together. These events are normally very popular. We have a choice of 2 or 3 places … and would like your input on which one to do. Please go to our survey and let us know what you prefer.

Option 1 – Westin Oaks Galleria - 5011 Westheimer - the site of our Saturday night BIG event - we would be at the 1st floor lobby bar. Very little noise (other than what we create) - We would have 'bar' type snack food. Cash Bar.  Parking is free for self-service. Very convenient for folks staying at hotel.

Option 2 – Little Woodrow's Shepherd - 720 Shepherd (about 15 minutes / 6 miles from Westin Oaks). They are billed as your "Local Watering Hole" and have several locations in Houston and over Texas. Will have background music and your regular 'bar scene'.  Cash Bar.  Prices for alcohol will be lower than at Westin Oaks. We would have 'bar' type snack food. Parking is free. If you want to see a little bit of Houston, this gets you out of the hotel.

Option 3 - Cadillac Bar & Grill - 1802 Shepherd Dr at I-10 – if we hit 140 or more folks – and the Cadillac is still available, we can go here.  We would have snacks, a cash bar & meet & mingle.

Or we might find another similar venue.  Regardless of location the cost is $35 per person. The venue location may change, but the fun will not.

Saturday Night - The BIG Event

Saturday night, October 16, is the "BIG Event"; it will actually be an extension of Friday night but with more bells and whistles. Still casual or formal ... you decide.

It will be at the Westin Oaks Galleria – 5011 Westheimer at Post Oak, Houston 77056.

(We previously planned to have the reunion at Doubletree Greenway, but decided that The Westin Oaks will provide a better event for us)

The BIG Event will include music, dinner, a photo booth, a dance floor and lots of meeting & mingling.  Cost is $100 per person...and well worth a once-in-a-lifetime, 50th reunion!  There is a free self-parking.  And you are at the Galleria … go out the back door and you are in the Galleria!

If you feel that this amount would be an undue burden on you, we have had several generous fellow classmates who have donated to a Scholarship Fund that can help you out. Just send a confidential email to, explain the circumstances and we will go from there. Your name will NOT be disclosed to anyone else on the committee or the class.

**** Get a great rate at the Westin Oaks Galleria! ****

The reunion will be at the Westin Oaks Galleria. Address is 5011 Westheimer, Houston, 77056.  We will have a limited block of rooms reserved for us at a reduced rate - $119.00 per night (+ taxes) - (we will have reference codes for you later).  There is free self-parking. So, whether you still live in Houston or are from out-of-town, you can decide not to drive anywhere after the festivities on Saturday night (and/or Friday night) and have a night at the Westin Oaks Galleria!

Here is the link to book your room with our discount:

You can also get the same rates for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights!

Saturday Day - Cool Tour of brand, new Bellaire High School campus

Our BHS was original built in 1955.  There were many remodels (including air conditioning in 1971 as we were leaving!).  Bellaire High School received funding in 2012 for a new campus – and the $141 million construction project is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2021 …  just prior to our October reunion!

On Saturday, October 16, 2021 we have arranged for a tour of the brand new, BHS campus!  10 a.m - noon, we will have a guided tour of this brand spanking new state-of-the-art campus.  Walking will be involved.  $5 per person.  Space may be limited, so if interested, sign up now!

Sunday Day - Survivor Brunch

For those who would like to attend - we are having a Survivor Brunch on Sunday at Jax Grill (1613 Shepherd Dr near I-10) from 11 a.m. - ? – no fees involved, other than what you eat or drink – they have good food, reasonable prices, and very casual – just let us know if you plan to come.  We can see what folks remembers from the previous night…

Register on the Site!

We have no estimate of the number of folks who will attend!  That's why it is very important you register here, so we know we have "found" you. This way we can communicate with you through the site and you can check on reunion plan updates at any time. Our working "guesstimate" is about 250 folks for the Saturday event - because that is the room capacity.  Friday night is unlimited, because we can change venues if we need to.  Rough calculations go like this .... about 1,000 in our graduating class; guessing we can't find 50%. That leaves us 500. Guessing 50% of the 500 can not or will not attend ... that leaves us around 250.  Probably not very accurate ... but have to start somewhere!

Even if you do not plan to attend in person, we are looking at having a live video feed or a Zoom-type webcam going so you might have a chance to participate or watch from afar.... but only if you are registered on the site & we can notify as our plans develop.... so please register.  It is free. No strings attached.

If you know anyone on the "Missing Classmates List" -- please ask them to register!  All information is confidential, unless you opt to share it.

You can get your tickets NOW for all 3 events (4th event on Sunday is free).

This is our Pre-Sale Time Period.  Prices will probably increase as we get closer to the event. There probably will be NO tickets sold at the door due to food guarantees, so please come & buy tickets as soon as possible.  See each of the 4 events for more information. Just click on 50th BHS Reunion Tickets (top of left column) on the Home Page (this page).

We prefer your check or Zelle payments (we get 100% of the money!). Credit cards costs are 5.9%! ..but we are happy to take your money ANY way it is easiest for you!

Also consider donating to several areas of opportunity - help a deserving classmate attend the Saturday night festivities; help support our website; help fund the event, etc.  Check out Donations. And you can buy advertising on the website too!  If you have a business you want to promote or just want to do a shoutout to the kids, grand-kids or great grand-kids...this is a great way to do it!  Check out Advertise on BHS Website

We Need some Help!

#1 – We are looking into to having a live chat / live stream going for the Saturday Big Event so that folks who can not attend in person, can be with us “virtually”.  Either a live stream thru our web site, a “zoom” type ‘meeting’ or something similar….BUT we don’t have any expertise in that area. Do YOU? Can you help us brainstorm or actually navigate with us thru the technology maze?

#2 – It appears that to adequately protect the organizing committee from liability, the only way is by creating a LLC and have the LLC purchase event insurance.  Do you have any expertise here? Can you help us form the LLC? (if that is the way we have to go). HELP!

Who is the Reunion Committee and can I help?

Yes, you can help! Just let us know and we will find areas where you can help. The committee so far:

Barbara Beard            Judy Elkins            Gary Gerstenhaber          Mary Superville Kasper

Sharon Little        Chris Michael        Genny Stevens        Steve Tostengard        Jim Weston
