In Memory

Barbara Nussbaum (Carmichael)

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

BARBARA CARMICHAEL
NOVEMBER 9, 1953 - SEPTEMBER 11, 2016

Barbara Ellen Nussbaum Carmichael lived boundlessly from the moment she was born in Houston on November 9, 1953, to the moment she passed peacefully away on September 11, 2016, surround by loved ones in her home in The Woodlands,Texas. She lived her life without precedent, spending her 62 years unlike anyone else before her. Whether that meant finding success as a stock broker or as a class mom, Barbara always did so with big plans and big energy.
She spent time living in Arizona, Texas, California, and Florida over the course of her life, and found life long friends in each place, as was her nature. Her friends say she supplied the adventure in each of these places. One friend said Barbara Carmichael was the fun in her life.

Above all, she loved her family, planning beautiful birthday parties and vacations alike. Barbara is survived by her two children, Emily and Jacob, and her husband, Bill, along with her brother, Michael Nussbaum, his wife and four kids, as well as Bill's two brothers, Patrick and Thomas, sister, Carol Ann, and their families.

Barbara's being had a gravity of its own. People were undeniably attracted to her singularity of will and enlivening vivacity. She was deeply intelligent, but the word stranger was not in her vocabulary.

This gravity, this unending force, was love. Another one of her friends summed it up the best. She said no one would ever love her as much as Barbara Carmichael loved her. Barbara Carmichael was more than a person, she was a feeling. She had an ability to thrust you into the center of the universe. In that moment, you felt special, you felt loved.

Friends and family will pay their final respects to Barbara on September 12, 2016 at Congregation Beth Shalom of The Woodlands and Congregation Beth Israel Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
