Obituary for Joanie Feder Murland  

Joanie Feder Murland, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in Houston, TX surrounded by family. Joanie was born on June 9, 1953 in New York to the late Norman and Lillian Feder.

Joanie dedicated her life to teaching early childhood curriculum and left an unwavering impression on hundreds of children, inspiring them to pursue their own passions. She believed that everyone has the power to make a difference, and so she spent her days prioritizing acts of kindness. She showed others what it meant to love, to be loyal, and to light the world. It was through the way she devoted herself each day that lifted her up spiritually. This world will forever be better and will never be the same. 

Joanie is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hayward Feder, soul sister, Mickey Singer, and best friends, Arlene Bassin and Susan Edge. She is survived by her devoted significant other, Harry Lewis; her two children, Shawna and partner Tony Beardmore, Andrew and wife Lauren; their father, Dennis and partner Vinh Phan; her adoring grandchildren, Lily and Marc; godchildren, Geoffrey Singer and Lauren Magenheim; and many other loving family and friends. 

The family would like to express a deep appreciation to the nursing team at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Harbor Hospice House, and the Wiener family for their efforts to enhance Joanie’s life in her final days.
