Friedrich A. Hoeninghaus III, affectionately known as Rick, passed away on June 29, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years, Vicki Shell. Rick is survived by his two children and two stepchildren: his son Alex Hoeninghaus of Georgetown, Texas; his daughter Elisabeth Lane and her husband Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; his stepson Matthew Shell and his wife Christy of Orlando, Florida; and his stepdaughter Rachael Davis and her husband Michael of DeBary, Florida.
Rick was a man of many passions, notably his love for animals, cooking, and Longhorn sports. He had a heart for animals, never turning away a creature in need and welcoming many stray cats into his home over the years. His love for BBQ was well known, and he delighted in preparing large, hearty meals for his family and friends, ensuring no one ever left his table hungry.
As a proud former student of the University of Texas, Rick was a die-hard Longhorns fan. He was known to drop everything for a Texas football game, cheering on his team with unwavering enthusiasm.
Rick spent the later part of his life in Longwood, Florida, with his wife Vicki. After her passing in 2022, he returned to Texas, where he continued to cherish the memories of their life together.
