ALICE L. FRANKE, 51, passed away May 1, 2004 after a courageous battle with melanoma. She was born October 12, 1952 in St. Louis, MO., and moved with her family to Houston in 1954. Alice is a graduate of Bellaire High School, and had attended Southwest Texas State University. She had a long career in the hospitality industry, both in Houston and San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her father, Merle H. Franke. She is survived by her mother, Henrietta R. Franke; fiancé, Ward Newton; brothers, Richard Franke and wife Jeri, Donald Franke and wife Mary Ann, and Christopher Franke; niece, Molly Franke; and nephew, Darren Franke. Alice's family will hold a private memorial service in celebration of her life. In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorials may be made to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Houston, Texas 77024.
