Mike Huffman remembers that Steve passed away sometime in the 1980's.  Anyone have any additional information?

Thanks Mike.

Steve and I were very close in high school. I was with him throughout his recuperation after his stroke that occured during his gym final. Steve was one of the kindest and wittiest person I ever knew.. He made so many smile !!!!

So sad. I think Steve and I "went steady" in elementary school. My first boyfriend. What a great guy.

Rita, I've thought of you so much through the years. I remember that you were by Steve's side throughout his recuperation from his stroke. He was so witty & friendly & definitely put a smile on people's faces! Thank you for posting this, so Steve is not forgotten ❤️

I grew up with Steve Kirk through Bellaire Methodist Church, and we were in home room together at BHS, and was in the outfield at gym class during finals when he had his stroke.  I recall it was a very hot, humid day with patches of rainwater still on the field, and I looked around to see Steve face down in a pool of water.  We ran over to him & I believe Dan Rice was the first to get to him & turn him over.  I thought that perhaps Steve had passed out from the heat after so much exercise--we were playing an extra-long period of softball that day due to finals--but his eyes were half-open & 'tracking' as they do in people suffering cerebral events.  A very disturbing incident, frankly.  Steve was a good guy & I did see him a few times later and he had recovered largely--but not entirely--from that episode.  I think he had a leg brace the last time I ever saw him, but seemed otherwise in good shape.   We weren't really close personal friends, but I felt it worth recounting these memories of Steve since I'd known him for so many years going back to childhood...
