Don Kehn Jr.

What can one say about the one & only GP? One incident is too many, and a thousand aren't enough to capture his character. I will merely mention three of the more innocuous ones.  Others were less amusing.

1) Gary's self-crucifixion in a basketball hoop at Godwin Park that left him stuck in the rim by his shoulders for an alarmingly lengthy period of time...in the middle of the night.  As a result of a self-inflicted dare he had climbed up the support pillar and then tried to jump through the hoop.

 2) His ability to light cigarettes by cracking open electric light bulbs without breaking the filaments.enlightened(This anecdote courtesy of David Lowy, BHS '72)

3) His teasing me about a baseball diamond wall clock I had in high school...which I used to stare at during periods of late-evening beer & herbal recreation..."Kehn, do you realize the runner [on the hands of the clock] is going backwards around the bases?"  And so it was...home plate was at 12 o'clock...but, in my frequently befuddled state I'd never noticed it at all...indecision

Gary passed away in 2009 in Kerrville, TX.
