Eugenia Padilla

Eugenia “Genie” Padilla, beloved mother of two, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Genie was born in Monterrey, Mexico on August 11, 1953, the second of four children. She moved with her family to Houston, TX in 1958, where she grew up with her close-knit siblings Claudia, William and Richie. She graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in engineering in 1979 and and pursued a professional career until she found satisfaction working with her father, building his family medical practice on the outskirts of downtown Houston. At Padilla Medical Clinic she worked passionately alongside dear friends and family to grow the practice into a landmark of the community and neighborhood. Beyond her dedication to work, she spent her time caring for her two beautiful children, Antonio and Angelica. She also had become her parents' principal caregiver as they began to require more assistance because of advancing age and illness.

Genie is survived by many friends and a large family, who are devastated during this time.

The family wishes to thank the physicians and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center who treated her over her final months, during her time of illness, along with her many caregivers.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at 6:00 p.m., Thursday February 20, 2014, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home. A memorial mass honoring Ms. Padilla will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2405 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003.
